Brad Pitt is back as one of his most recognizable recent characters, and Netflix’s newly released trailer for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth offers the first extended look at the next chapter of the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood universe. Set in 1977, the film follows Cliff Booth eight years after the events of Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film, placing the former stuntman in a very different Hollywood.
This time, Cliff has moved beyond traditional stunt work and has become something of a Hollywood fixer, taking on difficult jobs behind the scenes. The trailer introduces a darker, more chaotic world involving celebrities, agents, criminals and the complicated machinery of the entertainment industry.
One of its most noticeable moments, however, is a brief joke aimed at Leonardo DiCaprio’s character, Rick Dalton. In the original movie, Cliff worked as Dalton’s stunt double and close companion. DiCaprio does not return for the new film, and the trailer addresses the absence with the kind of dry humor associated with Cliff’s character. When asked about no longer doubling for Dalton, Cliff responds with a playful comment about his former employer having gained too much weight.
The exchange provides a direct connection to the original film while making it clear that Cliff’s story has moved forward. Rather than simply recreating the 1969 Hollywood setting, the new movie explores the industry nearly a decade later.
David Fincher directs the film from a screenplay by Tarantino, bringing together two distinctive filmmaking styles. The cast also includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Peter Weller.
The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will receive an exclusive two-week IMAX theatrical run beginning November 25, 2026, before arriving globally on Netflix on December 23.
